Smith of Derby are internationally renowned in the world of clocks. Working from a number of locations throughout the United Kingdom they maintain and repair some of the worlds most famous clocks.
Historically clocks were situated to give people a view of the time when people generally didn’t have watches. This creates a number of challenges with work at height when maintaining clocks.
Solution -
Safety Advisors work with senior management and those who undertake the operations to develop safe systems of work that are suitable to protect Smith of Derby staff and members of public.
We undertake specific site inspections covering Health and Safety, Environment and Quality and these are used to develop training plans and are measured against the organisations objectives and targets.
We also deliver a number of training courses for the organisation and have been appointed as their Health and Safety external consultants.
Our input is not just limited to their site activities but we are also involved in their office Health and Safety undertaking toolbox talks, fire risk assessments, occupational health surveillance and monitoring their overall performance.
Results -
Continued compliance with statutory regulations. All staff feel part of the Health and Safety culture of the organisation. No complaints from the HSE or local authorities.
