Challenges -
Young Contracting Co. install, connect and manage utilities infrastructure across the UK and the World. The work is very varied and they often operate as either Principle Contractor or as a Contractor.
The work can involve working within deep trenches or working in areas of unknown ground conditions and with mobile plant operating.
A number of their operatives have been with the organisation for over twenty years and are very knowledgeable with regard to the installation and repair of the above and below ground utilities.
Young Contracting Co. had used a safety consultant for a number of years however they were looking for a health and safety organisation who could be more involved in their business.
Solution -
Safety Advisors, with our vast knowledge of construction re-wrote the Young Health and Safety Management System and then delivered the training on this to operatives. Training was delivered in both a class based environment and also on the sites where work was being undertaken.
With direct knowledge of the work being undertaken and those involved Safety Advisors are able to tailor training needs to cover general subjects and also how legal regulations etc. directly cover the work being undertaken. All trainers have a nationally recognised qualifications in Health and Safety and training.
We also undertake site visits to monitor and feedback to senior management with matters regarding Health and Safety.
Results -
Continued compliance with statutory regulations. No RIDDOR reportable incidents. All staff feel part of the Health and Safety culture of the organisation.
