Challenges -
Working within a fully operational airport the work had a number of interested stakeholders including, the airport owners, airport security, ground handling/operations, airport fire services.
Solution -
Safety Advisors worked hard to develop a quarantined work area. Security was paramount and we developed procedures to screen operatives before they attended site. Operatives received both an induction to work on the airport and one to work within the construction site. This was combined to reduce the time involved in inductions. The site had a, temporary wired, fire alarm linked to the airports system.
Results -
Time savings of approximately 4hours per person which had significant cost savings. No complaints from airport security or the airport fire service.
