Challenges -
The scheme comprised of the complete refurbishment and rebranding of an existing 144 bedroom, 7 storey hotel close to Edinburgh City Centre.
Due to its location the site attracted significant interest from the local authority and statutory bodies including the HSE.
Solution -
Safety Advisors were involved in the fire planning as part of their CDM co-ordination role and proposed the final fire strategy for the building. On-going involvement in the form of site inspections ensured, any GAPS were identified and resolved quickly ensuring the site protected those directly involved in the project and the public etc.
Results -
Cost savings as the final fire strategy was agreed at an early stage. Fire and health and safety standards maintained throughout the life of the project.
